Description
The Netel's Electronic Programmable Pressure Controller (EPPC) improves many aspects of capillary column Gas Chromatography by allowing variation of the carrier gas pressure during analysis.
Electronic Pressure Control
Programming pressure during capillary separation has been introduced as a way of decreasing the analysis time, improving the chromatography, reducing the upper temperature required and improving the injection part of the cycle. The Netel's Electronic Programmable Pressure Controller (EPPC) is a state of the art device which enables the pressure at the head of the column to be varied in a series of ramped steps, selectable by the operator. It can be operated automatically from the GC or via EPPC keyboard.
Five Pressure Ramp Segment
Up to a maximum of five pressures ramp segments are entered through the keyboard and built into a method. Each segment contains a rate of rise a target pressure and a time at which to dwell at that pressure. Up to nine methods can be stored in the unit's non- volatile memory.
Chains of the Ten Methods
Up to ten methods can be chained, allowing unattended automatic batch operation with an automatic injector using different batches of samples.
Gas Saver
The EPPC provides significant gas saving both during analysis and at the end of a series of analysis. During split or splitless operation, the split flow rate can be reduced to a trickle as soon as the injection event is over. In addition, one memory is dedicated to a "snooze" method. This reduces pressure automatically during non- use periods, saving gas and safeguarding the column.
Clear Alphanumeric Display
The display is used to set the carrier gas type, the pressure units preferred and the sense of the remote lines for compatibility with a wide range of GC's. Methods are then built and stored before being transferred and run.
The current pressure and retention time for each channel can be viewed at any time.
IMPROVED RESOLUTION
Pressure programming makes it possible to stay on or near the minimum on the van Demeter curve (below) as the temperature programme continues without it the floe rate reduces and the resolution deteriorates
