Shrivardhan which means "increase of prosperity", is a city in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. Shrivardhan also Srivardhan is an ancient place of historical importance and is mentioned as being visited by Arjuna Pandav in his is well known place for traders in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries under Ahmadnagar and afterwards under Bijapur shrivardhan was a port of consequence.

The distance between Sriwardhan and Harihareshwar is 18 km only and they both can be considered as twin cities. Its a place which has come to notice just recently and slowly becoming a tourist attraction. Alongside Marathi there are around 4 languages and/or dialects spoken in the town. In addition to Marathi, few other languages are commonly spoken: Marathi is the preferred language of 99 of the town's residents and Konkani which is part of Marathi literature 1%.

Nearest railhead is Mangaon, which is 45 km away from Shrivardhan and this railway station in Konkan rail is well connected to Pune and Mumbai.

If the beaches along Srivardhan are marvelous then the adventure sports available at the Kondivili beach are out of this world. Situated at almost 4-5 km from Srivardhan the Kondivli beach simply refuses to be faithful to the general definition of a beach. Apart from Kondivili beach you can also go to Dive Agar or Harihareshwar which are villages near by the Taluka place Shrivardhan which is the main town in Shrivardhan Tehsil.
