A binder cements the fibers together that increases the mechanical strength and cohesion of the product. A drop of binder is placed at each fiber intersection and then heated to around 200 °C to polymerize the resin and is calendared to give it strength and stability. In the final stage the wool is cut and packed in rolls under very high pressure before palatalization of the finished product in order to facilitate transport and storage.
