Description
Amiclinetablets contain diloxanide furoate which is a luminal amoebicide with good efficacy against the trophozoite and cystic forms of e. Histolytica present in the intestinal lumen.
diloxanide furoate is a dichloroacetamide derivative. After oral administration, high concentrations are reached in the intestinal lumen. Hence, it is very effective against the amoebic cysts and trophozoites in the lumen. It is well-tolerated and can be used in pregnancy. Its anti-amoebic efficacy is comparable to that of nitroimidazoles. Hence, it can be used in patients with intestinal amoebiasis, where nitroimidazoles are ineffective or are contraindicated.
