Generic Methotrexate Injection 50 mg

Methotrexate Injection is an Antineoplastic agent used in the treatment of certain neoplastic diseases, severe psoriasis and adult rheumatoid arthritis. It is used in the treatment of choriocarcinoma, chorioadenoma destruens and hydatidiform mole and other cancers like breast cancer, epidermoid cancers of the head and neck and lung cancer. It is available in oral and parenteral dosage forms.

Methotrexate Injection exhibits its anti-tumor activity by inhibiting folic acid reductase enzyme, leading to inhibition of DNA synthesis and inhibition of cellular replication. Methotrexate Injection is contraindicated in patients bearing psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis with alcoholism, alcoholic liver disease or other chronic liver disease and in patients hypersensitive to methotrexate and in pregnancy and lactation.Patients should be closely monitored for bone marrow, liver, lung and kidney toxicities.

Recommended dose:

Methotrexate is administered intramuscularly in doses of 15 to 30 mg daily for a five-day course.
